RECOGNIZING STRONG LEADERSHIP

SJNY President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., was again named to the 2024 City & State New York Brooklyn Power 100 and Trailblazers in Education lists, which highlight New York’s most influential people in academia, including presidents, professors, provosts, lobbyists, lawyers, nonprofit entrepreneurs and advocates. In addition, Dr. Boomgaarden was named a 2024 Power Player in Education by PoliticsNY and amNY Metro. The list honors individuals who champion progress and success in all forms of education, including presidents of educational institutions, public officials and nonprofit directors.

SUCCESS IN CLASS AND ON THE FIELD

Over the last year, St. Joseph’s student-athletes have continued to excel both on and off the field. Representing the Long Island Golden Eagles and Brooklyn Bears, 234 student-athletes landed on the Skyline Academic Honor Roll, seven students were named Skyline Scholar-Athletes of the Year and 10 students made the Skyline All-Sportsmanship Team.
$5.6 Million Dollars

FUNDRAISING MILESTONE

SJNY raised more than $5.6 million dollars through generous donor gifts, fundraising initiatives and successful fundraising events on both campuses over the last year. This is the largest annual total raised by the University in 10 years. The funds will support the University’s highest priorities.

BEST FOR VETS

St. Joseph’s has been ranked #8 in New York and #11 in the Northeast among the annual Military Times’ Best for Vets: Colleges list for its commitment to military-connected students. SJNY was ranked among peer institutions based on the services provided for military and veteran students, including participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program, career and academic support, financial assistance and mental health services.

AWARD-WINNING DESIGN

Since its unveiling last year, the Student Center on the Long Island Campus has earned prestigious recognition. The 33,000-square-foot facility was awarded the Archi Award Commendation by the Long Island Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Bentel & Bentel, the architects who planned and designed the Student Center, accepted the award at the 60th Annual Archi Awards this past fall. The Student Center offers a diverse range of spaces, including a spacious dining facility; the Marian and Ray Russo Student Life Suite; an art gallery; the Sisters of St. Joseph Chapel; a bustling gaming lounge and esports room; the Kroog Center for Veterans; Ridgewood Savings Bank computer lab; and many other versatile spaces for events, and student clubs and associations.
