Unwavering Support of Her Alma Mater

Margaret Broda ’04 remains dedicated to St. Joseph’s

Brooklyn Alumni Board President Margaret Broda ’04 credits an enriching student experience as fuel for her desire to remain dedicated to St. Joseph’s University, New York.

During her time as a Brooklyn Campus student, Ms. Broda was a peer mentor and a member of the Student Government Association, Chapel Players and Dance Club. She also served as manager of the women’s basketball team and played for the softball and women’s volleyball teams.

“As a student, I was able to do so many wonderful things that I know were made possible in part due to the generous and active alumni who came before me,” Ms. Broda said. “After I graduated, I felt it was important to give back to a school that afforded me so many wonderful opportunities.”

Currently serving as president of the University’s Brooklyn Alumni Board, Broda is the executive officer of the organization, managing the affairs of the board, in line with its mission. She presides over and chairs meetings, calls for votes on motions brought forth by members, and calls special meetings when deemed necessary.

Broda also serves as liaison with the Office of Alumni Engagement at St. Joseph’s, helping to support the University’s alumni endeavors.

In 2021, Broda was invited to be a guest for the third season of “St. Joseph’s University: Living Our Mission” on Catholic Faith Network, with St. Joseph’s University President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., serving as the show’s host.

The series features Dr. Boomgaarden’s interviews with students, staff, faculty and alumni. The episodes cover a broad range of topics, and although Broda engages in countless public speaking events, appearing as a television guest was a unique experience for her.

The multitasking alumna offers these words of advice to current St. Joseph’s students:

“Take time to enjoy your college experience and all that St. Joseph’s offers. Once you graduate, you will wish you were back in college, so seize all opportunities, try new things and go on adventures while you can.”
